Code of Conduct

WLS provides an ideal opportunity for the waste industry to come together to learn about and discuss the latest advances and innovations, network with industry professionals, and grow professionally. WLS is committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, or other protected characteristics. WLS expects all attendees, media, speakers, sponsors, organizing staff, and vendor staff to help show management ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone. This code of conduct outlines our expectations for participant behavior, as well as the consequences for unacceptable behavior.

It is in this spirit that WLS asks that all attendees:

Be considerate, respectful, and collaborative.
Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory or harassing behavior and speech.
Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants. Alert show management if you notice a dangerous or harassing situation or someone in distress.

Unacceptable Conduct:
Unacceptable behaviors include: intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory or demeaning conduct. All who participate in the event deserve respectful treatment, regardless of the capacity in which they are attending, whether a speaker, sponsor, attendee, or show/vendor staff member.

WLS defines harassment to include: offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, national origin, gender identity, or disability; inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces (including presentation slides); deliberate intimidation, stalking or unwelcome following; harassing photo/videography or recording; sustained disruption of talks or other events; unwelcome physical contact or sexual attention.

Verbal or physical (virtual environmental) abuse, intimidation, threats, efforts to annoy others, harassment, stalking, against any person, which in any way creates a disturbance that is disruptive or dangerous, or creates reasonable apprehension in a person, is also unacceptable.

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior:
Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated at the event or related events, whether by attendees, media, speakers, sponsors, organizers, or vendor staff. Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately.

WLS expects all event participants (staff, sponsors, speakers, attendees, and other guests) to abide by this code of conduct at all events conducted as part of WLS regardless of platform and activity. Show management, in its sole discretion, may bar those who violate this Code from continued attendance or participation in some or all of the WLS events, without refund of any fees paid, and may in appropriate circumstance bar violators of this Code from attendance or participation at future WLS/Waste360-sponsored events.
