"Derek Veenhof brings more than 30 years of executive leadership experience across the environmental services industry, spanning private equity, public companies, and family-owned businesses. His career has focused on environmental treatment technologies and related services, including a significant tenure in waste-to-energy with American Ref-Fuel Company and its successor, Covanta (now Reworld). At Covanta, he served as a senior executive leader overseeing commercial operations across waste, environmental services, metals recycling, and energy marketing, and ultimately as Chief Operating Officer prior to the company’s sale to EQT.

Following his time at Covanta, Derek became CEO of Modern Corporation, an independently owned, fully integrated waste company serving the Greater Buffalo, New York and Niagara, Ontario markets, where he has led the organization for the past two years.

Derek also serves on the Board of the Environmental Research & Education Foundation (EREF) and as Board President of the Go Green Initiative (GGI), supporting efforts to advance environmental knowledge, health, and sustainability across North America.
