Peter Goldwasser
Executive Director at Together for Safer Roads
Speaker

Profile

Peter Goldwasser, Esq., has spent two decades helping organizations turn hard problems into meaningful progress. He advises companies, nonprofits, and public institutions on strategy, partnerships, and impact — and has done so from some of the most consequential seats in public life: New York City Hall, Bloomberg Philanthropies, global NGOs, and the corridors of urban policy and advocacy — working across road safety, social policy, and civic innovation. He is known for building unlikely coalitions and distilling complex ideas into practical action, while leading with a style colleagues describe as authentic, creative, and empowering.
Peter currently serves as Executive Director of Together for Safer Roads (TSR), a global NGO whose members include the world's largest fleet operators, leading safety technology companies, and major policy and research institutions. In this role, he leads the organization's cross-sector strategy and collaboration — developing and scaling practical solutions that reduce crash risk and improve road safety performance globally.
Prior to joining TSR, Peter founded the PNG Group, a mission-driven consultancy helping companies and institutions align strategy with social impact. He previously served as Deputy Director at Cities of Service, a civic initiative incubated at Bloomberg Philanthropies that helps mayors mobilize resident knowledge and creativity to solve local challenges. Now an independent nonprofit housed within the Johns Hopkins Centers for Civic Impact, Cities of Service operates a coalition of more than 300 cities across the country.
Earlier in his career, Peter served as Chief Program Officer in the Office of Policy and Strategic Planning under New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, where he directed multi-agency initiatives addressing education, immigration, and combating sex trafficking. His work on the Administration's Chronic Absenteeism Task Force helped create the largest in-school mentoring program in the country.
Peter served as General Counsel at Transportation Alternatives, the nation's leading cycling and pedestrian advocacy organization, where he led legislative, political, and partnership initiatives to advance safer and more equitable streets — building the coalition and policy instincts that have defined his work ever since.
Peter lives in Park Slope, Brooklyn with his wife and teenage daughter, where he is a longtime supporter of the Brooklyn Public Library. Outside of work, he can usually be found in the garden or running long distances (without music.).
